A soggy second century

I finished my second 100-miler in two weeks yesterday. It went far better than the Austin-to-Shiner ride.

We started at Texas Motor Speedway and rode north and west in Denton County. It was pancake flat and there wasn’t much wind until the end, when we picked up a little tailwind. It WAS raining steadily for the first two-thirds of the ride, but it wasn’t that bad.

I tried to pace myself with a steady 15 mph, and it worked because I felt decent at the end (although if it had been hilly and windy, I probably would have felt as bad as I did at the end in Shiner). It took me 6:22, with 11 minutes of that in stops.

All in all, it was pretty uneventful, other than the rain. But hey, it could be raining in Colorado. And cold. And windy. And mountainous.

So, I’d better be ready for anything.
